KGO Radio morning newscast wins RTNDA Murrow award

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- April 6, 2004 -- KGO Radio’s Morning News team, Ed Baxter and Mary Ellen Geist received top billing as the Best Newscast in California and Nevada and the Best Anchor Team by the Associated Press Radio Television Association. This award-winning duo has been receiving top honors from a number of prestigious organizations including, most recently, the Edward R. Murrow regional award for Best Newscast from the Radio and Television News Directors Association. This is the second year in a row that the KGO Radio Morning News has won this award.

KGO Radio’s Noon News Anchors, Bret Burkhart and Jennifer Jones were both also honored by the Associated Press Radio Television Association with The Best Use of Sound and Jones received kudos for Best Sports Feature from the Radio and Television News Directors Association.

KGO Radio’s News Director, Greg Tantum says “It is gratifying to see the hard work of the KGO News Staff honored by peers from two different, distinguished organizations. These awards act as a public reinforcement of KGO's decades old heritage of providing the Bay Area with quality, dependable news and information."
