Grade the News is always looking for volunteers. We need help in the following areas:

Grading the news -- requires several hours of on-site training at San Jose State University
Outreach and publicity
Writing and reporting
Event organizing
Web site development, design and production

For educators

Grade the News is working with leading educators in the Bay Area and beyond to develop a curriculum for high school and college. We welcome suggestions and requests for materials, and will provide it free of charge to teachers. We also may be available to make presentations to classes and groups either on the San Jose State University campus or at area schools. Contact jmcmanus (AT) gradethenews.org for more information.

Tip us off

We can’t read every newspaper and see every television news broadcast. If you see something that’s particularly good, bad or otherwise interesting, we want to know about it. Send us an e-mail at jmcmanus (AT) gradethenews.org, call us at (408) 924-3258, or drop the evidence in the mail.

Write an opinion piece

If you’ve got an idea for thoughtful commentary on the local news and the discussion forum is too fleeting for your tastes, send it to us. We may want to feature it on our home page.
